• Those wishing to contribute to the game by making suggestions (both small and large) should read the following before doing so.

    Bushtarion largely runs completely automatically, and has been designed intentionally to be as self-maintaining as possible, with mechanics and balance considered at a completed point.

    Please do not spend large amounts of time coming up with complex suggestions in the hope that they will be read and possibly implemented in the future, unless you just enjoy the discussion, theory-craft, and such.

    The most likely changes will be rules-changes, specific number-tweaks to units, techs, and similar sorts of changes, and only if a large community consensus is reached as "proof" that a change would, overall, be an improvement, and are more likely to be done in batches, occassionally, not as a regular thing.

Ok more drunken wisdom after a night out got me thinking (after sending defense via a mate's iphone in a packed club)

AArsonists are still **** in an alliance...

..thieves are the usual land train whoring 3%ers, but arsonists could be taken from the game and no-one would even notice.

Make them into disabling guru type blockers.

Yeah we have terrors, yeah they kill flak, but who masses them?

Got dogs? great, mass em and help people with attacks and defence.

Got petrol bombers? great, be a formidable force in the early round.

Got arsonists? great, disable a few NLD but ultimately go unused/unrecruited.

Arsonists are NLT, this:

A) makes them die alot less as they are not targeted much.
B) are able to be much stronger, as they do not kill, and so can afford to do more or cost less.

Thug has bikers, they kill NLD fairly well (since the nerf) there are marines, VD, ALL targeters, why hqave yet another NLD targeter?

Arsonist fire quickly and are fairly cheap, yet they donot serve much purpose in the grand scheme of things.

Here is my suggestion:

Arsonist
Targets INN/NLD
Disables(all)
init: 180
ETA: 3
Low cost and low health/armour stats (PA will rape them like they do other NLT)
Have them get a good ratio against flak, similar to guru/terrors

Yeah thug will get another INN killer, but make them compliment terrorists, and be something people like to make use of in an alliance.

"Oh snap, we have shitloads of inc, get X online, we need his Arsonists to block with"

The thief route would then become an INN specialist route, giving it more appeal...

The staple unit in this sub-route is the Thief. Anything aside from thieves are just a bonus. You have to trade the LET flak abilities of Attack Dogs and Jeeps and the ALL killing of Petrol Bombers to gain such a useful unit. Improve Arsonists anymore and the sub-route will be far too strong.

Having said that, your suggestion is a nerf, imo. The game already has SD/SB and Guru/NV for this purpose, it doesn't need another unit. Also, last tick INN blocking is lame.

I've played Thief twice, the first time being before any of the buffs to Thieves and thought the route was great, albeit very specialised, both times. Now, with the improvement to Arsonists, its weakness in being very specialised is still there but slightly reduced which should allow for more variation in the Thug sub-route that people play (rather than it all being about PBs).

Honestly, each of the many times I've been in the top alliance and a resistance has come, I've been so thankful that nobody (in the resistance) ever plays thieves. It's such an underrated sub-route.

I dont agree with waht you said in paticular but i do think that arsonists need some sort of change, however i think the theif unit, is AMAZING :p 18% you get an extra 3% on mass attacks ontop of your geos, it makes stealing so easy and not to mention they're eta 3 so you can rush them...

the only flaw i see with the branch of the thug branch is there is absolutly Nothing that fires last tick, however there are a few routes that have this (RPG) a prime example, but they have units that you could mass to help last tick (Humvee, RO) yet the only unit that a Arsonist can only get that does anything scarry last tick is HT, and thats not a viable unit to mass anyway. however i dont think this is something that really needs changed .

i also disagree. this round i played an RPG with ROs, after finding a nice thief target, i bribe his hooligans and arsonists, i found them very useful for removing any left over armored units, like that dam SD flak, and then the hoolis remove the leftover CWs. (much better then hippy vans)

Agree with Alchemist. Arsonists are a useful unit to block PoMs early in the round when they rape your armies en masse for your land. Cheap, fragile, but do the job they are meant to do. I DENY YOUR SUGGESTION.

I want to get Bikers to target NLD/NLD/NLT, for the sake of making them still mostly kill NLD, but being a little more versatile and slightly targeting NLT.

Right now I am Thief/Arsonists, and I noticed the only unit I can kill NLT with is Heavy Thugs. Majorly weak? I think so!

On the topic of arsonists, they seem to be useful for stopping some PoMs, but are they really cost effective at doing so? Does anyone have any ratios for Arsonists : PoMs? It looks like the arsonist unit still isn't prevalent, so either everyone is missing a trick or bikers remain the NLD counter of choice.

Firing before Bikers, so i would assume they can take some NLD flak to enable your bikers to be more effective.

Bikers even more effective?
When bikers fire they get a nice 1:1 ratio on PoM.
PoM already sucks again bikers in distracting as bikers is armor based.
