To achieve the purist award i need to have been solo for the entire round 3 times, now if i join an alliance and then leave it before the round starts and stay solo for the rest of the round, does it count? or is that round now "corrupt"?

The "ever allied" flag is only set when the game ticks and clocks you as being in an alliance (and that is the point of no return). As long as the game doesn't tick while you are in an alliance, the flag doesn't get set and you are safe - but I really wouldn't risk it myself...

I thought you told me you created an alliance... if you create one, the "ever been in an alliance" flag does get set there & then (though I'm tempted to remove that and just leave it to the ticker now for consistency sake)... if you merely join one, and leave before a tick, the flag won't get set. Sorry for any confusion on the matter, I was confused myself about which action did what until I double checked the code
