On a final note on this thread - I'm just going to add that this has to be the most boring, painfully slow, uninteresting game I have ever played.

I have waited patiently for weeks for the game to "perk up", new features to reveal themselves, anything to make logging in worthwhile. I've sadly discovered there is nothing of the sort.

You log in. You click work. You click train. You log out.

Put simply, its crap.

Agreed, I gave up about 3 weeks ago. The final straw was the 'navy training' which involved going and finding the names of the top 10 naval officers or something. That was the height of excitement in the game.

Im still struggling on...im hoping that when i start earning more money and getting some gold thus starting my own company etc it'll be more exciting...

Until then i have to agree..fairly boring. But im sticking with the 2 minutes a day off work in the hopes that im pleasantly surprised in times to come :p

I'm rather enjoying it. Once you get involved with some of the Military (I.e. the Royal Guards) that is where the "community" spirit really comes about. I've just been promoted to Sgt of Squad 3, Charlie Company. I was only made Cpl yesterday after finally being given access to the relevent hidden subforums on the forums.

Agreed, this game is massively about the community rather than the actual game (or lack thereof :p)!

If you just play a game for socialising, tbh, get some real friends. I play games to take a break from community stuff.

But I'll shut up, some people clearly like it. Just isn't for me.

it's a different kind of community tho, it's not just forums and people chatting back and forth willy nilly about whatever they want. it's players running a government/country with all the attendant interests like politics, economics, management of resources (human and otherwise) etc. The interesting part isn't (for me) the socializing aspect of it. I don't particularly like people, but i like politics and policy making hence i find the game interesting. CFalcon, it's a little misleading comparing interactions with my friends irl where we don't manage companies/economies/countries or affect foreign and domestic policy at all (apart from voting lol) to the 'communal' aspect of this game. It's like comparing apples and oranges. My friends and I do discuss politics and policy on occasion, but not with the ability to do anything about it; which is a nice change. Yeah it's not going to make me an economics guru, but it can be fun.

I'll freely admit that that doesn't interest everyone but to compare it to a standard forum is just plain ignorant DA.

A forum, regardless of the calibre of the community it supports, is still just a forum.

If people out there find the community aspect of a "game" to make up for the fact that there is very, very little game atall, then good for them.

I'm of the opinion, however, that Erepublik is the text based gaming equivelant of tennis with a racket but no ball. You can stand around and chat about the game all day, but you're not actually playing.

Yet again you've chosen to attempt to strengthen your argument by attempting to point out I've missed your point.

My argument didn't need strengthening, what it needed was understanding. It's okay if you didn't understand tho, I understand that sometimes it's tricky to read a whole paragraph in one go and fully understand it, or for some people, the 20th time through. Oh well, you win some; you lose some.

Im still plodding away with this slowly...actually getting some gold now that im earning higher wages etc.

Im looking to start my own company, just a simple one to start with obviously just so i can get a bit of a stronger income...can someone more experienced tell me how much gold im gonna need to save before i'll have enough to successfully start a company.

Cheers

Depends what sort of company. At minimum, I think you want no less than 30 gold. Cheapest company that can be succesful is a Q1 manufacturing company. You'll need to pay for the company itself, an organization to run it if you don't have one, initial wages, and raw materials.

Before you start anything though, do your homework. Check prices, wages, raw material costs if applicable, and everything else. Make sure you aren't throwing your hard-earned gold at a dud.

Come bother me in #erepublik or elsewhere on IRC, and I'll totally be willing to help more.

I've come up with an awesome way to play this game.

A macro.

Firefox users can download iMacros, create a macro to navigate to the main page, login, click work, click train, then return to google.

Takes about 10 seconds, take the effort out of gaming :)

(Lolz)

I'm doing this until I reach a level wherein the game gets entertaining :p
