Depends on the size and weight of the shovel, but unless you gave me the ultimate showel, I'd go for the bat. But I'd probably just use it to get close and knock the ******* down with a nice elbow to the face.

get the shovel and start digging a hole, then ask if the ohter guy can help you dig a hole, swap the shovel for the bat and push him in the hole. every time he tries to get out hit him on the head. and if you're lucky they'll throw the shovel at you, then you'll have both the weapons and you win
